Carmel Sweater

Design: Carmel is a colorwork pullover with a slightly relaxed fit. The yoke features small-scale southwestern-influenced motifs. Latvian braids accent the yoke and lower body. The hem is worked in corrugated ribbing. The collar is double folded for extra structure and coziness. The sleeves feature balloon shaping and contrast cuffs.

Construction: This sweater is worked from the top down. Stitches are cast on for the neckband, which is worked twice the finished length and folded over double before continuing to the yoke. Short rows create back neck shaping. The yoke is knit in stranded colorwork in three colors with no more than two colors worked at time. Once the yoke is complete, sleeve stitches are put on hold and then returned to the needles once the lower body is finished. Latvian braids are worked at the top and bottom of the yoke and on the lower body just before the hem.

Fit: This garment is designed to fit with 1.5 to 4.5 in. (4 to 11 cm) of positive ease at the bust and to hit at the top of the hip. To pick the best size for you, measure your full bust circumference and add your preferred ease of between 1.5 to 4.5 in. (4 to 11 cm). Make the size with a finished bust circumference closest to that number.
