Sisterhood Shawl

I’M THRILLED TO INTRODUCE you to another design in the Sisterhood series—the Sisterhood Shawl. Like the Sisterhood Cowl, this pattern is a celebration of community.

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on how sisterhood begins within, how I must first make peace with all the sisters inside me (all the previous versions of myself) to truly experience the depth of friendship and community available around me.

As Emory Hall so beautifully writes, “I have been a thousand different women.” Some of them I love; some I look back on with embarrassment or even shame. But they are all me. And so, I am learning to lay flowers at their feet, to honor them with honey and forgiveness, to welcome them in. Because they are my sisters, too.

  • Design & Construction: The Sisterhood Shawl is an asymmetrical triangular shawl featuring an allover textured mosaic stitch pattern. It begins with an i-cord tab cast-on, and increases are worked along one edge. Multiple contrast colors are faded into one another, creating smooth transitions between color-changing yarns. I-cord selvages and a 2-color i-cord bind-off create polished edges.

Yarn: This pattern includes instructions for two yarn weights—worsted and sport—both of which create a similar-sized shawl

Stitch Patterns: This pattern includes both written and charted instructions for stitch patterns, allowing you to follow the method that beset suits your knitting style!
